Shammah,

Never underestimate the ability of an evangelical Christian to look at the truth blindfolded, and then proclaim they see it clearly. It is their false doctrines that blindfold them.

I believe that it terrifies biblical 'scholars' to question the gospel they have been taught, because I think they know that if what they say they believe is not true then they will have to admit their house is built on the sand. The thought of the foundation of their belief system being in error is anathema to them, because it would mean they would have to look at everything again starting from the ground up, just like we had to when we escaped their system. They don't appear to be willing to risk that. They think they have so much to lose.

So they leave the status quo alone and hope and pray that if they are wrong that God will have mercy on them and grant them eternal life with Him in His Kingdom anyway. For goodness sake, even Peter was not afraid to rethink what he thought he knew when confronted by Paul with the truth. He immediately recognized the error of His ways and repented... right there in front of God and everybody. How easy it would have been for him, or any of us for that matter, to puff himself up and challenge Paul, "I was with Jesus and you were not. Who are you to presume to teach me?!" Instead he considered that what Paul was telling him about his treatment of the gentiles was true. He listened to God instead of his own foolish pride. Why can't we all be like that?

I believe they are in for a very rude awakening! Certain things Christ said comes to mind when I think of those poor souls, and I pity them... "Why do you call me Lord, Lord and do not do what I say?" "'These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me." "I never knew you. Depart from me you who practice lawlessness."

Great post and Crystal clear. I was just thinking the other day that I keep saying keep Christ commandments but I never say what they are in a list form. I keep saying you know them by their fruits and I never say what fruits. I got some homework to do. We have been talking about RCV and missing it. I will have to just build a Mexican one
