The fire and passion for God in most churches today is quiet discouraging. People are no longer God-conscious; christian consecration and dedication has been placed in the back-drop. The solution to this problem is that we as christians should take God's Word (The Bible) serious, and begin to cultivate a healthy relationship with His Spirit in prayers and fellowship. With these, the original model for churching given in the Scriptures will be resored, and God will be pleased with us -- the world seeing the light in us will run coming to Jesus. SELAH.

I can't argue with this. My mention of the gathering was, as I said, just a "for example."

It's funny. You commented a couple days ago, but I just saw this today (sorry), and I'm teaching tomorrow night on exactly what you say in your last paragraph. God just gave me the topic this morning. It's a prep to a series on leadership training, and the point is to say, "If you forget that everything stems from your relationship with Jesus Christ, then everything you learn about leadership in this course will be useless."

I see that's an LDS article.

I have several LDS friends. They're pretty entrenched in that religion, and generally they don't like to take up debates with me, which is fine with me. I will comment, though, that I have had two of them--one a bishop--tell me in a longing tone that what Rose Creek Village is doing is what the LDS church was doing in its early days and holds up as an ideal now.

It's not about the gathering.

Yes, we are admonished to not forsake (leave behind and never return) the assembling together. Yes, we should adopt a scriptural form of the assembly as outlined in the scriptures.

But, the gathering we have today in some of our churches is more likened to entertainment (smoke machines, flashing colorful lights, loud thumping music) in that one cannot tell the difference between a Christian assembly and a U2 concert.

The point is this: until we understand that worship flows from relationship, and that all doctrine should point to and strengthen our relationship with God, we will never return to where we're supposed to be.

I followed a link you left on SC and quite liked your blog. I plan to do some more reading here when I have more time. You seem to be interested in statistics and polls so when I ran across this article I thought of you, and wanted to know what you thought.
