Rose Creek Village

A Demonstration of the Life of God

Let us tell you a story...

Here at Rose Creek Village, we love to share our life with others, either through talking about what's going on, telling stories, or taking care of visitors. In this section of rosecreekvillage.com, you'll find a collection of articles and stories about people and happenings in the Village.

What Most Helps Us Grow?

I looked back over journals for the past year or 2 as we were meeting Rose Creek, making decisions and moving here. Sure enough they confirmed what had first come to mind when I received your email.

• We are the body of Christ . . . Jesus with skin on:
When we were checking out RCV we asked people what they considered this place to be and what they called themselves – e.g. the church, a church, Christians, etc. They stood there and looked us straight in the eye and said, “We are the body of Christ.” And everywhere I looked I saw the truth of that statement, as the people here took care of each other as if each was an extension of Christ’s hand and heart on the earth – 24/7, as they say. That not only doesn’t happen in the church groups we have come from, but it couldn’t happen, no matter how much we wanted it to, when we were so seldom within arm’s reach of one another. I was reminded of a sermon illustration with a child who is frightened in the dark and his parents tell him not to worry because Jesus sees him and is protecting him. But the wise child tells his parents, “I know that, but sometimes I just need Jesus with skin on.” In Rose Creek Village Jesus has skin on! I need Jesus with skin on, and I want to become Jesus with skin on! Read more...

You Are Beautiful

I was thinking recently about how unfortunate I am to be short when suddenly, I was stricken by a thought: I’m criticizing an image made by God! In an instant, I began to feel happy and to think of all the beautiful people I get to see every day of my life. more...

A Letter From Joseph Koyei

Tagged with:

Joseph Koyei, cultural ambassador for the Maasai people of Kenya, paid us a visit last month for about a week. We enjoyed his visit every bit as much as he did (see below). The Maasai are a respected tribal people famous for their tall warriors. He taught us about Maasai village life, told us about fighting lions (including grabbing one by the tail because to do so is worthy of respect), showed us his scars from doing so, and taught us the best methods for avoiding an attack by rhinoceroses and buffaloes. A few of us are going to get to visit him in late May or early June on our Kenya trip. To learn more about the Maasai people,
visit the Maasai Association website.

Dohnavur Fellowship in India

Tagged with: dohnavur, india, travel

One of our favorite times in India was our pilgrimage to Dohnavur Fellowship in Tamil Nadu. We traveled 5 hours by car to the southernmost tip of India. After a rest from our journey, we went to see where our dearly beloved, Amy Carmichael lived and worked unreservedly to save children from a life of prostitution and from being “married to the gods” in Hindu temples. Although we know her only through her writings and poems, when we envision the great ‘cloud of witnesses’ – she is there standing amongst many others who gave their lives unconditionally to rescue India’s lost children . As we read her books our hearts became endeared to India, a nation halfway around the world. We were inspired to put music to her poems so we could sing to our Lord the way she did. We prayed for India’s children because of the stories we read that were written by her. It was a dream of many of us to one day visit Dohnavur Fellowship, to walk where she walked, and to see the country this young Irish missionary conquered for Christ in the early 1900’s. Our expectations were high as we traveled towards the place called Dohnavur Fellowship. more...

A VillageFest Report

Tagged with: festival, ingathering, villagefest

by Ed K.

We came to the village in Sept., 07 before the “VillageFest” and the “Ingathering”. We witnessed the frantic activity for the three weeks before the VillageFest. Everyone was so busy and occupied. From dawn to dusk the hustle and bustle was almost overwhelming. Finally the big day arrived. It was awesome. More than the performances the life of the performers was evident. Yes, the show was great, but the demonstration of Christ was seen without a word. Love and joy shined through the people. God’s life was manifested in a most grandeur fashion. Each life was part of a whole, and the glory of this life could not be denied. It was a kiss and a warm embrace of Jesus to an audience of lonely and empty-hearted, deprived seekers. Each heart must have cried out for more. Mine did. more...

A Heretic Who Found His Home

I encountered God in 1982. It was sudden, unexpected, and caused a great deal of change in my life. In fact, it was a rather stunning experience. It was a lot like being tripped up at a time when things were really going pretty well in my life. I wasn’t looking for God. He came looking for me. more...

Elazar and Dylanna Wed!

Tagged with: announcements, weddings

On Sunday, November 11, Elazar and Dylanna joined hearts before their Lord and King. It was an enchanting afternoon on the grounds of RCV, surrounded by the warm, golden colors of autumn. The tent was raised and the people were gathered to watch as the bridegroom came for his lovely bride. The purity and joy of their courtship made them a role model for our children to follow and has earned the respect and admiration of the entire village. They consistently gave of themselves to help and encourage others instead of being wrapped up in each other. more...

Ray & Ashley's Wedding

Tagged with: weddings

On November 25, 2006 at noon, the entire village gathered together at the large white tent for the wedding of Ray Tyler and Ashley Pennington. It was a perfect day – sunny and cool – most unusual for this time in November. The village people were all buzzing around making the last-minute preparations. When you entered the tent you could feel a sense of warmth. Was it the beautiful sun shining on that special day? Or the loveliness of the tent decorated in the rich colors of autumn? Or, maybe, the smiles and the happiness that exuded through the many people that love Ray and Ashley and were so excited to be part of this happy occasion. Nevertheless, a sense of beauty and love was about us as we entered the tent that afternoon. more...

A Life for a Life

Tagged with: beliefs, life, writings

Visitors to our website and even to our Village can sometimes get the impression that our life is all flowers, songs, and smiles. It is all of that- and more! But we do want everyone to understand that these fruits that we enjoy every day are the direct result of God’s working inside of us; changing and rearranging us from the inside out; producing fruit that is beyond our highest expectations! It is the only way that we humans could ever experience the kind of unity that Christ promised. Jesus’ call is a life in exchange for a life: we trade our life for the joy of experiencing his life. And it is well worth the cost more...

Community: The Corporate Life of the Church Then and Now

Tagged with:

On June 15-17 we will host our 2nd Annual Conference on Church Life and the Gospel. The theme will be Corporate Life in the Church Then and Now, with guest speakers K.V. Daniel of Voice of Gospel in India and David Servant of Heaven’s Family Ministries, as well as teachers from Rose Creek Village. Men that are traveling the world with the Gospel, reaching the unreached in India for Christ, and establishing a visible testimony of Christ’s powerful love right here in America will teach practically on both early and modern Church Life and its power. There’ll be questions and answers, worship time, a large corporate meal to fellowship and discuss the things we’ve learned, free time to mingle, music from Rose Creek Village, and more.

Please make plans to attend. If you have not heard these men speak on the subjects they are so passionate about, you are missing a blessing that could literally last forever.
